Our list of places to visit in Berlin was extensive, the problem being that the city maps were less than helpful. Whilst considering a "hop-on, hop-off bus", Lorna picked up a leaflet in reception advertising a private conducted tour by mini-bus. The mini-bus turned out to be a Mercedes people carrier and the guide a South African who had married a German girl ten years earlier. The tour, complete with his explanations and "sound tracks" at the relevant locations, was excellent and took us to places that I suspect many Berliners would rather forget. Using the information gleaned on the tour, the afternoon and the next day were spent walking the city.
