Being retired and having never seen the Crown Jewels was considered unacceptable by my wife so on a glorious Saturday in March 2011 we caught a bus to the capital city and made our way to the Tower. Not being locked up for photographing where one should not and under a clear blue sky, we strolled alongside the Thames from Tower Bridge to St Paul's Cathedral, tubed it back to Marble Arch, window shopped on Oxford Street and ate our sandwiches in Hyde Park.
